I have a penchant for reading the notes on an album, even if it is a simple list of song titles and names of the players. WIthout the story of where the music originated, the story is lost. Enjoy this CD or give it to someone who will spin it occasionally.

about

We in the west seem to be returning to a connection with rights of passage in life. At least in the circles I move in.

Ten days at the bedside of a parent as she makes her way on the journey of dying is important. She had never done this before, and here she was teaching me. I am so grateful to have been able to be there.

One thing that was striking, was the way she wanted to be lifted up by the arms. Her wings were being attached I guess, so she could fly out or off of this mortal plane to another place, unknown. The only way to get there was to pass away from her body. Away, after on, out or off. What are these dimensions in an afterlife (see after!) because we don't know. Time might be meaningless.

lyrics

To the Other Side
Up is where you’re going, on a wind that’s blowin
Everything is showing the day you’re born and the day you die

By a bed, love all around, we sing songs music fills us
Just a game, a life lesson, passing through without fuss

Up is where you’re going on a wind that’s blowin
Everything is showing the day you’re born and the day you
Lift your arms above you, let go of all that’s not true
I will always love you, from here and now and to the other side

You held me, now I hold you, everything ends in this
Everything you ever showed me, led to this final kiss

Up is where you’re going on a wind that’s blowin
Everything is showing the day you’re born and the day you
Lift your arms above you, let go of all that’s not true
I will always love you, from here and now and to the other side

Lift your arms above you, let go of all,
Angels here on earth have come to take you home, final call

Up is where you’re going on a wind that’s blowin
Everything is showing the day you’re born and the day you
Lift your arms above you, let go of all that’s not true
I will always love you, from here and now and to the other side
