I have a penchant for reading the notes on an album, even if it is a simple list of song titles and names of the players. WIthout the story of where the music originated, the story is lost. Enjoy this CD or give it to someone who will spin it occasionally.

about

Let it Go was written in Prince Edward County while I was supported by an OAC (Ontario Arts Council) composition grant in 2004. It was never recorded in studio.

This song has always been received very well in live performances; it's simple to relate to, however sad that we continue to have these same global struggles today as back in early 2000's. When will they ever learn...

Arrangement harmony credit to goes Biron Brunelle for pushing the progression in a new direction in the verse.

As all the songs on this recording, vocal and guitar is live off the floor or scratch as we call it in the business including improvisations. This is my new (old Larrivee) with dreadnaught body. It is the guitar that makes it sound so good.

lyrics

Let it Go
You frown you fret; all your dreams haven’t come true yet
wake up and wipe the sleep from your eyes
Let it Go
You moan and groan, pick up your feet, keep going
tomorrow there will be blue skies

You know, you know you know we’re travelling the same road
You know, you know, you know, we’re carrying a heavy load,
you know you know you know learning to let it go

The destination is not the point, it’s midnight dancing in some jukebox joint
In your hometown, or on a distant shore
And further down the line each one of us gonna know about dying
Why won’t they make love not war

So don’t be shy, show your heart, where it comes together where it falls apart
Oh there is love for all you are
Your friends and your family, at your side may they be,
to catch your hand when you stray too far
